AR Buzz . . .   The Accelerated Reader (AR) Program provides teachers and children a fun and exciting way to promote reading at home and in the classroom. In this program students read a book and take a book quiz on a school computer to earn points. Each quiz is 5 to 10 questions long, depending on the reading level of each book. As teachers view students AR test results, they are able to see how well each student comprehends what they are reading. Currently, Siebert uses the Web Based AR Program. Students participating in AR will be able to test on any book quiz that Reading Renaissance (Company that created AR.) has available. That is more than 120,000 quizzes! Students are only able to test from school due to the site license. When K & 1st grade students reach reading level 18 in their classrooms, they are allowed to begin the AR program. For every two points earned, students in K & 1st are allowed to choose a prize from the treasure chest in the library. This happens weekly. As students in grades 2nd-5th accumulate points, they are able to spend their points in the AR store once a month. Students do not have to spend their points monthly. They may choose to bank their points and spend them another month.

*Items in the store include mechanical pencils, candy bars, erasers, calculators, back packs, notepads and many other cool items.

*Students will receive an AR t-shirt when reaching 100 points.

*Students reaching 125 points will have their picture placed on the Bee Wall of Fame bulletin board near the gym.

*AR Bulletin Board - Be sure to check out the AR bulletin board across from the gym. As your child accumulates points with AR, their Bee will fly from hive to hive.
